Sukkot brings Liberal and Reform communities together
Celebrations combine shared meals, family activities and practical support for others.
The Movement for Progressive Judaism has published a roundup of Sukkot celebrations from communities across the UK and Ireland, highlighting activities for different generations.
Kingston Liberal Synagogue welcomed young members into its sukkah, while Bristol and West Progressive Jewish Congregation held a family celebration. Reading Liberal Jewish Community joined local Quakers for a service and lunch in the garden of the Friends’ Meeting House.
Several congregations connected the festival with charitable giving. Kol Chai Hatch End Reform Jewish Community combined sukkah building with a Macmillan coffee morning, and Southend and District Reform Synagogue collected tinned food.
