Progressive Judaism condemns Green Party’s “Zionism is Racism” motion
The Movement calls for the policy to be reversed and for Jewish members to be able to participate fully.
An editorial summary of the statement issued by Rabbi Charley Baginsky and Rabbi Josh Levy, Co-Leads of The Movement for Progressive Judaism. This is not the Movement’s original wording.
The Movement for Progressive Judaism has condemned the Green Party’s adoption of the motion, describing it as antisemitic and arguing that it discriminates against Jewish members who support Jewish self-determination.
The Movement says connections with Israel form part of many British Jews’ religious, educational and family lives. It argues that Jews should not have to abandon those connections or their communal affiliations to take part in political life.
Its leaders call on the party to reverse the policy and ensure equal participation for Jewish members. They pledge to challenge the decision and hold the party’s leadership accountable.
